Poison centre notification in Austria

Austria runs one of the cleaner PCN setups in the EU: since 1 January 2021 every poison centre notification for the Austrian market goes through the ECHA Submission portal, the country charges no national fee, and you may place the mixture on the market as soon as the submission report shows the dossier passed ECHA's automated validation.
The catch for foreign SMEs is language. Austria is one of the member states that requires notification in its official language, so the dossier content must be provided in German — English-only submissions do not satisfy the Austrian requirement even though neighbouring Germany accepts them.
What to watch for in Austria
- Austria lists two appointed bodies: the Poison Information Centre (VIZ) at Gesundheit Österreich GmbH and the Environment Agency Austria (Umweltbundesamt).
- No confirmation-of-receipt wait: placing on the market is allowed immediately after the dossier passes automated validation.
- The Austrian REACH/CLP helpdesk (reachhelpdesk.at) publishes PCN FAQs in English.
